HEALING AND DIVINE HEALTH

Text: 1 Peter 2:19-25

Emphasis: Who his own self bare our sins… that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (1 Peter 2:24)

Narration:

Health practitioners do all they can to treat ailments, but true healing comes from God and He has the final say when it comes to our total recovery from any illness. From inception, everything God created on the earth was good. Sickness is not good, so certainly not part of what God created for man here on earth.

Sin breeds sickness, reproach and shame. So, when man sinned, he opened the door for the devil to introduce sicknesses and diseases on the earth. Since man has continued to invent sins, the devil has also continued to invent many types of sicknesses and diseases to match up. But there is good news for those who believe in Christ Jesus, for He is our great Healer (Isaiah 53:4-5). Some may ask, “why then do many believers still get sick and eventually die from their illnesses?” The reason is that we live in a fallen world and bad things happen; sickness is one of those bad things. As long as we are in the flesh here on earth, the things which affect all flesh could also come at us. But our hope is in Christ to heal and restore good health to us. But if Christ Jesus chooses to call us away unto eternal rest with Him, that should be our utmost joy, and not that we died from any sickness.

Brethren, let us learn to trust Christ to heal us at all times. But whether by sickness or not, if Christ tarries, we will still drop this flesh at some point in time to be with Christ and then live in perfect health forever. So, let not ill health dampen our spirit nor discourage our service in God – His grace is always sufficient to us (2 Corinthians 12:7-10).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, by faith, I claim for myself and my family, the promise of healing made available with the stripes of Jesus Christ, my Healer and Restorer, Amen.
