A pastor, in a community comprising mainly farmers and craftsmen once announced to his congregation to attend the next service with a product from their occupation as they were expecting a visiting preacher. As the visiting preacher ministered, he asked God to bless and multiply the works of their hands when the congregants raised up the items they had come to service with. Sadly, some people were seen raising empty hands.
The God we serve is a hard Worker and wants us to be hardworking too. There is nothing wrong in having the good things of life; what would be wrong is having such a wish and not having any plans to work for it. Today, you hear people talk about the big dreams they have and how they want to live in the best houses, drive the best cars and so on. Yet, they move around lazily in their neighbourhood or sleep excessively in their houses while others are busy working hard. Some of these people even reject job offers with the excuse that such offers were too menial for their status. Such people prefer to beg or just live off others. They are also easily lured into illegal businesses, so as to make quick and easy money.
When God promised to bless the works of our hands, it meant that we need a legitimate work on our hands for Him to bless. When your hands are idle, be sure you are inviting poverty because God will not bless an idle and unwilling hand. Put your hands to good use.
